Southwest Style: Translates Well for Fall

Things I love about Southwestern design...

Warm color. Dark metal. Knotty wood. Sharp patterns. Leather. Intense texture.

Think: sunny yellow, terra cotta orange, and cactus green.  A place where textiles are so beautiful, they can simply be hung to create artwork.

There are so many things about Southwest style that translate well for fall.  Here are some ways to incorporate a touch of Southwest into your home:

  - Add a gorgeous serape blanket over the back of your couch.

-Switch out your rug with a flat weave in a Southwest pattern.
...Layer a cow hide on top!

-Paint stones turqouise (the less perfect, the better)
...add candles, or white pumpkins on a dark metal tray.

-Layer tons of pillows on the sofa.  Take time for cuddling!

  -Paint a canvas.
...Use the pattern on the door above as inspiration.

  -Fold a stack of blankets.
...Store them in a big basket next to the fireplace.

-Switch out your coffee table for a leather ottoman.
...Add a metal tray on top.

  -Cactus, anyone?

-Cut a piece of burlap fabric for a table runner.

-Use a dark stain on a 2x6 piece of wood.
...add candles on top, in a row.

Gorgeous, darling!
